Dear Lady at the bookstore,
Thank you for being kind and gracious
to one whose usual confidence had eroded to a little quiver. My insight
did not fail me, though I wish it had given me strength that moment I met
you. Confidence only lost where courage is needed, I persisted over the
objections of my body to approach you. Had I not, how could I forgive myself,
how I would have wondered what might have been, if only, if only...
And so I did reach out, timidly, but
with a knowing that I owed it to myself and you to take this moment and
embrace it.
How glad I am for having done so! You
greeted me as a lady would. Though you thought your engagement prohibited
any involvement, you reached out in turn, shook my hand, told me who you
are, and thanked me for complementing you.
How good it feels to know that an act
of courage can meet with such rewards, that I met a lady, yes a
lady
today.
I wish you and your love happiness
in life!
Sincerely,
Georg
